In-person "fireside" Zoom chats with audio pros setting fire to the industry.
Featuring Guest Tom Lopez Sunday, August 23, 2020 Noon - 1:30pm eastern
Hosted by Lia Hagen, the premiere episode of Sound Insight features award-winning producer Tom Lopez of ZBS, creator of game-changing radio dramas like "The Fourth Tower of Inverness," "Moon Over Morocco," "Dreams of Rio," and "The Incredible Adventures of Jack Flanders." Says audio writer/producer, Fred Greenhalgh ('Locke and Key;' 'Expeditionary Force: Homefront;' and 'The X Files' on Audible), Tom Lopez and ZBS were "producing podcasting before podcasting existed." Why have Tom and ZBS remained a significant force in audio drama production for more than 50 years? Said one critic: "They have evolved with the ever-changing media landscape."
On August 23rd, 2020, you have the opportunity to embrace the secrets of change with one of the greatest audio producers of our time.
Attendees in the Zoom session will be able to join in the conversation. Sound Insight is presented free by the HEAR Now Festival.

Tom Lopez, along with his alter ego Meatball Fulton, is a writer/producer who, for the ZBS Foundation, has written numerous daily radio serials and weekly series, including 'The Fourth Tower of Inverness,' 'Moon Over Morocco,' 'Ruby,' 'Travels with Jack,' 'The Taj Express,' '90 Second Cellphone Chillin' Theatre,' and, 'Tropical Hot Dog Night.' Lopez's audio stories have been heard on public radio, and more than 100 hours of them have aired on XM Satellite Radio. ZBS, distributor of Lopez's many productions, currently offers his work as podcasts. Tom has received numerous awards, including the Prix Italia Special Prize for his binaural radio opera, 'The Maltese Goddess.' In 2011 NATF awarded him the Norman Corwin Award for Audio Theater making Tom the first to receive it after Norman Corwin himself in 2010. Tom is also known for his work as a field recordist having gathered sounds in such exotic locales as: the Amazon, Belize, Costa Rica, Bali, Java, Sumatra, India, Morocco, Spain and Brazil, and as an audio engineer having recorded and mixed his sound rich productions. Fans will tell you Tom's work varies from comic and cosmic adventures to science fiction and mystical mysteries - some with spiritual wisdoms woven within. According to Tom, his intention has always been to raise consciousness by using the media, radio, and audio to share stories that are downright fun and fine family entertainment.

She graduated summa cum laude from NYU with a degree in Digital Storytelling, and her special skills include killing bugs for her squeamish friends.
