The National Audio Theatre Festivals (NATF) is issuing a call for original material to be showcased, either in recorded form, or, performed live at the festival’s Saturday finale, AUDIO Tonight! as part of this year's annual HEAR Now Audio Fiction and Arts Festival, a listening and juried audio festival set for June 8 - 11, 2017 in Kansas City, MO.
HEAR Now is the audio equivalent of a film festival for the audio arts which will include full-cast audio drama, audio book narration, audio installations, live performance, and more!
The four day festival features recorded listening to both legendary performances and new pieces of audio fiction; from story-telling to audio art.
“On Saturday, June 10, 2017, we will present Audio Tonight!, a live performance, in front of an audience, in the format of a variety show. HEAR Now is accepting recorded submissions and live performance ideas to be included in that show. So if you are an audio dramatist, an audio theater company, a narrator, a spoken word performer or a sound artist of any kind, and you have a short piece you would like us to consider including in this show, we want to hear from you.”
The submission period for both recorded submissions and live performance ideas is open till February 1, 2017. Entrants who submit to either category by the deadline will be begin being notified on or before March 15, 2017.
Submission Fee: $25.00 per entry
Live performance ideas can encompass a stage time between 30 seconds to up to 18-20 minutes: enough time to read a poem or stage a short play with cast and sound effects.
Recorded submissions will be used throughout the Festival in high quality listening theaters providing 6 hours daily of sonic adventures, ranging from comedy to horror to thrillers to historical drama.
NATF requires an initial 5-minute sample of the work you wish to submit to the Festival. If the Acquisitions Committee likes your sample, we will next ask for your entire work for further review.
