The HEAR Now Festival is happy to present a variety of audio performances from around the U.S. and the world.

This page represents those artists whose works the judges admired, but were not heard this year at the Cinemark Theater on the Plaza.
The Festival's panel of judges agreed these works were also among the best submitted this year.

Grants Over Death*

A washed-up Near-Death Studies investigator devises a method to send a student volunteer beyond the tunnel of light, past death's door and into its living room. The wary volunteer discovers that the afterlife is all hell. The President becomes involved, and thus is born the Grants Over Death (G.O.D.), a government program to conquer death.

Oblivion

Oblivion is a thirty-minute crime/mystery radio drama revolving around three band members whose upcoming performance in the finals of the "Battle of the Bands" will determine their futures. When their conflicts escalate and the drummer is found dead in front of the band's rehearsing space, evidence leads the Detective to a one of the band members as a leading suspect in the murder case. However, the drummer's sister receives CD with an explanation of the events that transpired. Now, it is on her to determine whether or not the truth will be revealed.

Shayna

Shayna… a New York story caught between two worlds

Lost & Found Project explores a new direction with a new audio drama - “Shayna”, which examines the journey of a young singer-songwriter in New York who can’t catch a break. She is estranged from her brother and ailing mother, stuck in dead-end relationships, and stalled creatively. But when a beautiful, haunting melody lodges itself in Shayna's mind, it unearths a family mystery and a century-old injustice that only Shayna can make right.

What is Shayna's connection to the dybbuk of Jewish folklore? Where has her mother disappeared to? What happened between two sisters in a Russian shtetl at the dawn of the twentieth century? And why is Shayna harassed by an online stalker?

“Shayna” is partially based on personal stories of actors of the Lost & Found Project.
